Gisela Pulido: The Queen of Kiteboarding Ready to Fly at the 2024 Olympics
Gisela Pulido is not a stranger to breaking records. She became the youngest kitesurfing world champion in history at the age of 10, earning a Guinness World Record for her feat. She has won 10 world titles in freestyle and one in waves, dominating the sport for more than a decade. She has also been nominated for the prestigious Laureus Award and named Adoptive Daughter of the province of Cádiz.
Now, at 29, she is ready for a new challenge: competing at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, where kiteboarding will make its debut as an official sport. She has secured her spot as the Spanish representative after winning the European qualifier in Gran Canaria in September 2023.
"I'm very happy and proud to have achieved this goal. It's been a long and hard road, but I never gave up on my dream. I want to thank my family, my team, my sponsors and all the people who have supported me along the way. This is for you!" she said after the event.
Pulido will face tough competition from other top kiteboarders from around the world, such as Daniela Moroz from the USA, Mikaili Sol from Brazil and Elena Kalinina from Russia. The Olympic format will be kitefoil racing, which involves riding a board with a hydrofoil that lifts it above the water, allowing for higher speeds and more maneuverability.
Pulido is confident that she can adapt to this discipline and show her skills and experience. She has been training hard in Tarifa, the wind capital of Europe, where she lives since 2005. She has also been working on her mental and physical preparation, as well as her English skills, to communicate with the international media and fans.
"I'm very excited to be part of the first Olympic kiteboarding generation. It's a great opportunity to showcase our sport to the world and inspire more people to try it. It's also a huge responsibility to represent my country and give my best. I know it won't be easy, but I'm ready to fly!" she said.

Gisela’s  story is not only inspiring, but also significant. It shows how kite surfing can empower women, promote environmental awareness, and foster international cooperation."
Gisela’s an example of how a girl can pursue her dreams and make them come true. She is a role model for all the girls who love kite surfing or any other sport. She proves that nothing is impossible if you work hard and have passion. I hope that her story will motivate you to follow your own dreams and to never give up. You are amazing and you can do anything!

Now we can't wait to cheer for her at the Olympics💕🧜🏼‍♀️
